Cupcake Wars Winner, Annette Starbuck of Goodie Girls teams up with Home Baked Beanies to create “A Sweet Trunk Show” to benefit Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting…

January 10, 2012, (Los Angeles, CA) Goodie Girls are preparing to host their second benefit with Home Baked Beanies, most popular for their “Scented Cupcake Beanie”. This event will take place on Thursday January 19, 2012 from 1-4pm at Goodie Girls (415 E. Broadway #100, Glendale, CA) and will benefit Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting. Guests can expect to be treated to cupcake samples, discounted cupcakes and Home Baked Beanies all to benefit Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting.

Annette Starbuck, the multi-Award Winning Founder of GOODIE GIRLS exuberates a joyous passion for creating a variety of baked delights through her valiant curiosity and enchanting talent. Even more remarkable, aside from countless independent Instructional Culinary Sessions, Annette has never actually enrolled into any institutional Culinary Programs or attended Culinary School, but she’s achieved acclaimed success only through her seasoned personal experience and pure creative determination. “Baking is a passion of mine and I create every cupcake with all my heart and soul. Whether for a small occasion of getting together with Friends, BBQ’s, Showers or a big event for Charities, Weddings, or Banquets I craft each batch as I was feeding my own family – it’s who I am at the core. I am lucky to have my whole family with me on this adventure including my rock star husband Anthony, my amazing father Doug and last but definitely the most influential, my step mom Stephanie. Together we Rock the Cupcake World!”

HOME BAKED BEANIES are the first smelly hat company. The owner and creator of this new sweet idea is Tracey Scott, as well as the whole family that contributes to the designs. Smelly or not, the styles are totally unique like their cupcakes hats that smell like cupcakes as well as the hand tie rag hats, vintage shabby chic, every color, every style, and every size. They invite everyone to stop and “smell the hats“. Fans of these unique beanies can find their own Home Baked Beanie to match their personality/style at several locations including: Big Bear, CA, San Diego, CA, Los Angeles (Select boutiques), Trunk shows, holiday events and red carpet events.

READING, WRITING, IT’S EXCITING (RWE) is a nonprofit literacy program designed to improve the reading and writing skills of at-risk children. They do this by providing one-to-one writing mentors throughout the school year for kids who are chosen by their teachers to participate. The reason for RWE’s program is that research shows that if children aren’t writing and reading at their grade level by the end of second grade, they almost never catch up. Further research has also shown that as many as 80% of those kids eventually drop out of high school, are unemployed, are in prison or join gangs. And how accurate are those numbers? Several states actually base their future prison building plans on them! There are over 45,000 second grade students in L.A., and only 41% of them are proficient in writing and reading. Their goal is to help all of them… For more information about RWE, please visit: www.rweprogram.org.

“Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting” at Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles on June 7, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting teamed up with celebrities at Barnes & Noble in Westside Pavilion to promote literacy…

June 8, 2011 (Los Angeles, CA) The Reading, Writing, It’s Exciting! Program (RWE) recently hosted a star studded reading and literacy event at the Westside Pavilion Barnes & Noble on June 7th to promote literacy and to shine a spotlight on how important it is for parents to read with their children. To help ensure this message is heard, we invited celebrities to read a story and/or book (the children have written) and also act out the books with some of the children at our event. Our goal with the celebrity participation will hopefully inspire other parents to undertake this all-so-important activity with their own children. Literacy experts have all stated that if parents read to, and with, their children from a young age, it would solve many of our literacy problems.

Some of the celebrities that participated included: Sean Kanan (Young & Restless, Bold & Beautiful), Scott L. Schwartz (Oceans 11, 12, 13, Spiderman), Catalina Rodriguez (Watch Over Me, Dexter), David Fralick (The Young & The Restless, Changing Hands), Matthew J. Evans (Bad Teacher, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh), Kate Linder (Young & Restless), Julianna Rose (There Will Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine, G Force, The Last Mimzy), Jennessa Rose (Enchanted, Happy Feet, Little Miss Sunshine), Danika Yarosh (A Christmas Wedding Tail –with Jennie Garth, Nerd Wars, The Wizard of Oz-on Broadway), Derek Bloom (Victorious, Beyond The Mat), and Petey Yarosh (Celebrity Ghost Stories)

Reading Writing "It's Exciting!!! RWE"

RWE is a nonprofit literacy program designed to improve the reading and writing skills of at-risk children. We do this by providing one-to-one writing mentors throughout the school year for kids who are chosen by their teachers to participate. At the end of the school year, the kids get to read one of their stories at a Barnes & Noble, and then watch in special VIP seats as actors perform them for the audience.

The reason for our program is that research shows that if children aren’t writing and reading at their grade level by the end of second grade, they almost never catch up. Further research has also shown that as many as 80% of those kids eventually drop out of high school, are unemployed, are in prison or join gangs. And how accurate are those numbers? WORKSHOP FILMS 2, LLC ANNOUNCES THEATRICAL RELEASE OF THE SCI-FI THRILLER ‘THE RIG’

Peter Atencio Directs William Forsythe in Thriller with Bruce Fowler Score and Davis Fandino designed creature…

August 20, 2010 (Los Angeles, CA) Workshop Films 2, LLC, Peter Atencio, (Director/Editor) and James D. Benson (Producer) announced the theatrical release of the 94-minute feature film, ‘The Rig’, starring William Forsythe and Art LaFleur. The trailer can be viewed by visiting the website at: www.therigmovie.com.

Summary:
Events begin unfolding on ‘The Rig’ when a tropical storm forces an offshore drilling company to evacuate all non-essential personnel from the “Charlie” oil rig. The remaining crew settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their night is interrupted when a crewmember goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the crew, eliminating them one by one. Surrounded by nothing but raging ocean with no hope of escape, the roughnecks try to survive the stormy night with an unrelenting force hunting them down.

‘The Rig’ is a sci-fi thriller that takes you on a ride in the tradition of classic thrillers like ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’. ‘The Rig’ was shot entirely on location on a real, working oil rig in Morgan City, Louisiana. The ‘Mr. Charlie’ Rig was the first mobile drilling rig ever constructed and now doubles as a museum and a roughneck training facility, and provides a great canvas that delivers a production quality otherwise unachievable.

Bruce Fowler (orchestrator for ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ and ‘Angels & Demons’, etc…) composed more than 70 minutes of original score for ‘The Rig’. Bruce Fowler has been working in the film music industry for 20 years, both as an orchestrator and conductor for such notable films as ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘Gladiator’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Armageddon’, ‘The Rock’, and many, many more. The creature in ‘The Rig’ was created by Davis Fandino and Matt Killen, who did the creature effects in ‘Alien vs. Predator, Requiem’.

Coming soon:
‘The Rig’ will be playing at various theatres all over the US and in all major cities, check local listings for times. October 5, 2010 ‘The Rig’ will be released by Starz/Anchor Bay Entertainment and will be available on Amazon, Netflix, etc…
