“HOOPS FOR HOPE L.A. 2011” A Charity Fundraiser Event Presented by Former NBA player and Ambassador of the American Stroke Association Juaquin “Hawk” Hawkins…

(Los Angeles, CA) On January 16, 2011 “Hoops For Hope L.A.” is a three-part event for all ages that will take place at the world famous Los Angeles Staples Center, with celebrity guest MC/HOSTS Tatyana Ali (actress/singer) and Chris Spencer (actor/comedian). Celebrity athlete, Juaquin “Hawk” Hawkins, created Hoops For Hope LA to spread stroke awareness as well as bring attention to his organization (Hawk Hoops Sports Foundation). Juaquin is a stroke survivor that continues with his efforts of giving back by sharing his personal story with others. A percentage of proceeds from this event will benefit the Hawk Hoops Sports Foundation.

Hawk Hoops Sports Foundation (H.H.S.F) is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that conducts youth basketball camps, clinics and after school programs for boys & girls ages 7-15. Through this youth program, the fundamentals of basketball are taught along with educating youth about childhood obesity, promoting stroke awareness and mentoring boys and girls about maintaining a healthy life style through sports by utilizing both current and former professional athletes to spread the message.

With school budgets cut throughout the nation Juaquin Hawkins established “Hoops For Hope L.A.” a charity fundraiser event that hosts a youth basketball camp for foster children, underprivileged children as well as children from single parent homes, followed by a celebrity basketball game, and live performances by various recording artists that the community is sure to enjoy.

Hawk Hoops has conducted youth programs for the past 8 years and have had the opportunity to mentor over 3,500 boys and girls across the country. Through youth camps and after school programming Hawk Hoops has inspired many boys and girls.
