On Saturday January 12 Los Angeles based artist Ronnie Watson and author/film-maker Michael Mandaville hosted successful benefit for Suzanne DeLaurentiis Veterans Charities at Naya Sunset. On September 15th Alicia’s House Food Pantry will celebrate their 10th Annual Alicia’s House Celebrity Golf Outing, at Lincolnshire Country Club (390 East Richton Rd., Crete, Illinois), followed by a fabulous dinner and a huge silent and live auction.

Last September (2011) Alicia’s House Food Pantry closed out their week of celebrity charity events with donations totaling over fifty thousand dollars to help feed the needy. The week of fundraising started out with Actor/Director/Humanitarian Scott L. Schwartz returning to WGN for an interview, making a first time appearance on NBC’s “The Talk” and visiting the South Chicago Heights Fire Department in Steger, IL. Later in the week Milt Pappas (Legendary All Star Chicago Cubs Pitcher) joined Kevin “The Butcher” Hughes and Scott L. Schwartz at Rasberry’s Pancake House for “Tip A Star” and Aurelio’s Pizza.

The week of charity events ended at Lincolnshire Country Club for a day of golfing with the stars, dinner and silent auction. Annette Starbuck is hosting Planet Rehabs New Exhibit “The Butterfly Experience” on Earth Day…

In celebration of Earth Day, Annette Starbuck, winner of the Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars” Season Three and owner of “Goodie Girls” will host Planet Rehab’s “The Butterfly Experience” on April 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Planet Rehab Sanctuary located at 2745 W. Dalepark Dr., San Dimas, CA 91773. AB Weddings & Special Events will help plan this premiere event to benefit The Butterfly Experience. This event will mark the opening of the new Butterfly Habitat, which offers its visitors total immersion as they enter into an enclosed exhibit beautifully landscaped with native plants and populated by hundreds of butterflies.

As a result of pollution, global warming and loss of habitat, the world butterfly population is in an ominous decline. Many butterfly species are on the verge of becoming, or have already become, extinct. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently designated 23 more species in the country as endangered or threatened. By opening up the walk-in Butterfly Habitat and encouraging the public to interact with these amazing creatures, Planet Rehab hopes to encourage the public to take part in helping Butterfly Populations to survive.

Event Details:
On April 22, 2012, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and wonder of butterflies, up close and in person. Planet Rehab Director Gary Mitchell, and Carlo Rios, Planet Rehab’s Ambassador will co-host this event. The Butterfly Experience will begin at 1:00 P.M. and end at 5:00 P.M. Renowned Butterfly Landscape Expert David Snow will speak on what types of plants butterflies need in order to reproduce and each attendee will be given a pot with a Milkweed seed planted in it. (Milkweed is the only plant that Monarch Caterpillars can eat).

More than just a pretty face, butterflies help to pollinate many of the fruits and vegetables that we eat. Planet Rehab’s Butterfly Experience illustrates the importance of planting native plants to keep our local butterfly populations healthy. Planet Rehab operates on the premise that it is the simple things in our world, which make the biggest differences, and so much of what is taken for granted. The Butterfly Experience offers a chance to help make a difference and celebrate Earth Day!

Planet Rehab is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the planet, its animals and their habitats through education, original music and the magic of interacting with the animals in the Planet Rehab Animal Sanctuary.
